Black bears have made a strong comeback across much of the country, and states are adding hunting opportunity as numbers grow.
Where bears are growing
Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Florida have all seen strong bear growth. Arkansas has expanded its seasons and Missouri held its first modern bear season.
Why hunting matters
State wildlife agencies use regulated seasons to manage growing bear numbers and keep populations healthy.
